Life Is Beautiful Pt.2

I walk into my boss's office on Thursday, and we go over the stuff I'm doing. He loves it. He says "What would you think about getting paid to do this?"

*blink, blink*

"Well, uh, I like getting paid..."

"Whether you realize or not, whether you like it or not, you ARE running your own business. It's time to get people accustomed to paying you for your skills. Draw up a payment proposal to go with your service agreement."

It's not a lot of money, but it's better than nothing. It's a foot in the door.

A few hours later, I've finished my work in a new client's house, and he's happy with what I've done.

Yesterday I call the project director for a project at a friend's church. I say "I can do this project. And I can do this in such a way that it doesn't cost you $500." Of course, I was a lot more flattering and roundabout than that, but that's the gist of it.

She says "Let's meet tomorrow to discuss it."

That's less than 24 to prepare my product for demo. Most people "selling" this type of product also have proposals and fact sheets and crap like that. I get 5 hours of sleep 'cause I'm working on it, pack up my laptop, go to church, and proceed to sell my product to the director and treasurer. They want me to create something from scratch that they were planning on buying new, from a professional company, for nearly $500.

Plus, the day that got the "So As I Don't Go Forgetting Entry..." was incredible.

Best week of the summer so far, bar none.
