This Is How...

This is how the world ends: It takes us by surprise.
The apocalypse is by definition an event, natural or otherwise, so awesome in magnitutde and power that it cannot be escaped, cannot be fought, cannot be averted.
And so we never expect the world to end. Even the most jaded, even the most cynical always hold out hope that this isn't really the end, that somehow we'll make it through.
This is how the world ends: It takes us by surprise.

This is how the world changes: With or without our permission. It moves on whether we want it to or don't, whether we're ready or not. And we have to follow. Whether we run to catch up or are dragged along behind, the world doesn't change without us.
This is how the world changes: With or without our permission.

This is how the world begins again: With the promise of rebirth, of rebuilding, with the sun rising on the day after the world ended, just like it did the day before. This is how the world begins again...

Some notes for a book I'm writing.

I like these thoughts, and will be interested to see how you transpose them into a book. I know whatever the subject, I'll find it as captivating as I have your other work.
