Why does this make me uneasy?
She used to be a Democrat (+15 years ago). She's a member of Bush's inner circle. She's never been a judge. Why is she a nominee for Supreme Court Justice?
If I had to guess, I'd say Bush intentionally picked just about the least offensive person. A woman to replace a woman, a used-to-be Democrat to appease the Senate... I'm thinking he just tossed out an easy one, someone who's not going to be too controversial, someone who's just OK.
Of course, it would be way too much to ask to see, oh, Ron Paul nominated. Not someone who's going to look at JUST the Constitution.
Here's hoping she actually does her job.
