Since I managed to escape from Hardware 2 early this evening, I got to watch CSI: Miami. For once it was a treat. A real pro-freedom message tonight.
The gist was thus:A councilman is found dead, a developer is stealing people's homes with eminent domain, and a corrupt judge is looking on.
Lots of good stuff. Eminent domain (the kind detailed by the fascists on the Supreme Court recently), received a brutally thorough smackdown. Kinda nice to hear the good guys talking about law in a bad light. The POLICE carrying it out got roughed up by a main character (so much for just-following-orders!) The corrupt judge was sent to prison, and it turns out the equally corrupt eminent-domain-swing-vote councilman was greased by a kid who's house was going to be stolen. The kid did it with a folding pocketknife no less, in a blitz ambush that probably would've had Marc MacYoung wincing, nodding, and saying "Well, yes, that IS how that's done."
They were VERY careful to show the various violent and confrontational actions taken by the outraged and displaced victims (the homeowners, not the ones who got what they deserved) as wrong, preferring instead to advocate a legal means of vengence. Specifically:Let Horatio Caine dig up dirt on them.
The real world more than likely does not contain Horatio Caines, so I preferred to read the message tonight as "How NOT to get caught."
I probably won't get so much enjoyment out of television again until I go see The 300 in theaters. Watch the good (but fuzzy) trailer here:

Well, that's not entirely true. Lost, House, and Prison Break will be on between now and then, and Miami Vice will be coming out, so I will enjoy myself to a great degree before THe 300 is released.
