See you in another life

Lot's of updates goin' on here recently. I wish this one was going to be a fun one.

A guy I know died two days ago. He was one of our friends at Gander Mtn. He knew us by name, watched out for cool stuff he thought we'd like, would shoot the breeze for an hour if we stopped in. He was the one who sold me my carbine and was absolutely honest in all his dealings.

Sunday, October 15th 2006 he died of pneumonia, a complication of spreading pancreatic cancer, which he'd had for 3 years. He wasn't expected to live 6 months past the diagnosis, but beat the odds to the point where when he finally gave up the ghost, his doctors now want to know every single detail of his lifestyle.

Besides once experimenting with Navaho (Navajo?) Indian medicine, the one lifestyle point that everyone contributes his longevity to was his enduring good spirit. To my knowledge he never once anticipated dying. He just kept fighting, kept his cheer up, kept living. He was planning on going varmint hunting in Montana in Summer 2007. That he'd outlived his expected "expiration date" by 2.5 years didn't factor into the equation, he planned ahead and expected to be there.

We'll miss you Don, and we hope you're still as happy as you always were.
